Instadebit casinos in Canada: how it works and what it costs
Instadebit links your Canadian bank account to a casino without sharing your bank login with the casino. Here is how money moves and what each step costs.
Short answer
Instadebit is a Canadian bank-based payment service: you link your bank account once, then pay casinos and receive payouts through your Instadebit account. Its FAQ lists no fee for moving money between you and a merchant, C$1.95 for a transfer in from your bank and C$2.00 to withdraw to your bank. New users get a temporary limit until the bank account is verified; amounts are not published. We could not load instadebit.com when we checked on November 3, 2026, so confirm the option is live in the casino’s cashier before you rely on it.
Any payment method makes deposits easy. Set a limit at the casino first: responsible gambling.
What Instadebit is
Instadebit describes itself as a bank-based payment method for consumers in Canada, run by Instadebit Inc. It sits between your bank account and the merchant. The casino sees an Instadebit payment, not your banking details.
It is not a wallet you top up in the usual sense. The FAQ says funds cannot be deposited directly into your Instadebit account from your bank account. Money comes in from a merchant (for example a casino payout), and unused funds are returned to your bank account automatically, minus fees.
We have not confirmed Instadebit’s registration with FINTRAC as a money services business.
Fees, worked through
The fee that matters depends on which way the money moves. Using the figures in the FAQ:
- Casino deposit through Instadebit: no Instadebit fee listed. Your bank may charge for the debit if your plan has transaction limits.
- Casino payout to your Instadebit account: no fee listed.
- Moving that payout to your bank: C$2.00. On a C$50 withdrawal that is 2 ÷ 50 = 4%; on C$500 it is 0.4%.
If a debit from your bank fails for lack of funds, your bank may charge its own NSF fee. Check your balance before you deposit.
How a deposit works
- Choose Instadebit in the casino cashier and enter the amount.
- You are sent to Instadebit to log in or sign up. The first time, you link your Canadian bank account.
- Confirm the payment. Instadebit debits your bank account and pays the casino.
- The casino credits your balance.
Your limit starts low until Instadebit verifies the bank account, so a first deposit above the temporary limit may be declined.
How a withdrawal works
- Verify your casino account (ID and address) before you request a payout.
- Choose Instadebit as the withdrawal method. Casinos usually require that you withdraw to a method you deposited with.
- The casino approves and sends the money to your Instadebit account.
- Move it to your bank, or let Instadebit return it automatically. The C$2.00 bank withdrawal fee applies.
Casino approval is usually the slow part. Measured payout times are on fast payout casinos.
Instadebit or Interac e-Transfer?
| Instadebit | Interac e-Transfer | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | Instadebit Inc., a separate company | Interac, through your own bank |
| Fee on a casino deposit | None listed by Instadebit | Free on most chequing plans; C$1.00 to C$1.50 on some accounts |
| Getting a payout to your bank | C$2.00 per withdrawal, per the FAQ | Free to receive at the banks we checked |
| Limits | Not published; temporary limit until verified | Set by your bank, for example C$3,000 per 24 h at CIBC |
If your bank charges per e-Transfer and you deposit often, Instadebit can cost less on deposits. If you mainly care about payouts, Interac avoids the C$2.00 bank withdrawal fee. Details: Interac casinos.

Questions
Is Instadebit the same as Interac?
No. Interac e-Transfer is a bank-to-bank transfer run by Interac. Instadebit is a separate company that links to your bank account and pays the merchant on your behalf.
Can I keep money in my Instadebit account?
Only temporarily. According to its FAQ, unused funds are returned to your bank account automatically, minus fees.
Why was my first Instadebit deposit declined?
New accounts have a temporary limit until the bank account is verified. A deposit above it, or a bank balance below the amount, will fail.
Is iDebit the same service?
iDebit is a different bank-based payment service. Check which one the casino lists; the fees and limits differ.
