C$5 deposit casinos in Canada: fees, spins and odds
Five dollars is enough to try a few slots at the lowest stake. Fees and withdrawal minimums decide whether it is a good deal.
Short answer
C$5 buys 50 spins at C$0.10 or 25 at C$0.20. On a fee-free method it is a cheap way to try a casino; with a C$1.50 per-transfer bank fee you lose 30% before the first spin. Bonuses often need more than C$5, and the casino’s minimum withdrawal may be several times your deposit: the chance of turning C$5 into C$50 is 10% at most. Fees on a C$5 deposit, method by method
On small deposits a fixed fee hurts more than any house edge. Fifty spins at C$0.10 on a 96% RTP slot cost C$0.20 on average (C$5 of bets × 4%). A C$1.50 transfer fee costs seven and a half times as much.
| Method | Fee from the provider or bank | Share of C$5 |
|---|---|---|
| Interac e-Transfer, chequing plan with free transfers (RBC, TD, Tangerine, Simplii, CIBC Smart) | C$0 | 0% |
| Interac e-Transfer, RBC savings account | C$1.00 | 20% |
| Interac e-Transfer, CIBC account without a plan | C$1.50 | 30% |
| MiFinity balance loaded by Interac | C$0 in; C$4 to withdraw to your bank | 0% in; C$4 is 80% of a C$5 cashout |
| Crypto | Network fee per transfer, plus exchange fees | varies, often large on C$5 |
Your bank’s own fee schedule is the one that counts; the numbers above are from the banks’ public pages. If your account charges per transfer, one C$10 deposit costs half as much per dollar as two C$5 deposits.
Avoid credit cards for gambling deposits. TD’s cardholder agreement, for example, treats gaming transactions as a cash advance, which means a fee and interest from the day of the transaction.
How long C$5 lasts
If you bet C$0.10 per spin and keep re-betting wins, C$5 lasts for about C$125 of total bets on average at 96% RTP (C$5 ÷ 0.04), or about 1,250 spins. That average hides a wide spread. On a low-volatility slot many small wins keep the balance near the start for a while. On a high-volatility slot most C$5 sessions end within the first 50 to 100 spins, and a few hit a feature that multiplies the balance.
Choose the slot’s RTP before you choose the slot. The same C$125 of bets costs C$5 at 96% and C$6.25 at 95% (C$125 × 0.05), and with a fixed C$5 budget a lower RTP simply ends the session sooner. The game’s info screen at the casino shows the RTP in use.
A simple C$5 session plan
- Fix the stake at the slot’s minimum and leave it there.
- Play one slot for 25 spins, then decide whether to switch. Twenty-five spins at C$0.10 is C$2.50 of bets.
- Stop when the balance hits zero, and don’t top up in the same session.
- If the balance passes the minimum withdrawal, withdraw it, then decide whether to play again with a new C$5.
The plan doesn’t change the odds. It keeps the session to the budget you set before you deposited.
Bonuses and a C$5 deposit
Bonus minimums are often above C$5. If a C$5 deposit does qualify, the bonus is small: 100% gives C$5, and at 35x it needs 35 × C$5 = C$175 of bets, which costs C$7 on average at 96% RTP. On average that is more than the bonus. Playing without a bonus keeps your balance withdrawable whenever you want. Full math: casino bonuses.
Reaching a withdrawal
Check the minimum withdrawal first. In any game with a house edge, the chance of reaching a target before losing your balance is at most balance ÷ target. From C$5:
- to C$20: at most 5 ÷ 20 = 25%;
- to C$50: at most 5 ÷ 50 = 10%;
- to C$100: at most 5 ÷ 100 = 5%.
Real chances are lower, and they fall further the more small bets you make, because each bet pays the house edge. Bigger bets don’t fix this either: they only bring you closer to the ceiling, never above it. Know the target before you deposit.

Questions
Which payment method is cheapest for a C$5 deposit?
Interac e-Transfer from a chequing plan with free transfers, or an e-wallet you already hold a balance in. Check your bank’s per-transfer fee first.
How many spins do I get for C$5?
50 at C$0.10 or 25 at C$0.20, before any wins. If you re-bet wins, the average total bets before the balance runs out is about C$125 at 96% RTP.
Can I play live dealer games with C$5?
Possibly, if the table minimum allows. Live tables usually have higher minimums than slots, so C$5 may cover only a few rounds.
Will a C$5 deposit get a welcome bonus?
Often not, because bonus minimums tend to be higher. The bonus terms state the minimum.
