C$1 deposit casinos in Canada: what one dollar really gets you

A C$1 deposit is the cheapest way to test a cashier, and the hardest one to withdraw from. Here is the math.

Short answer

Casinos that accept a C$1 deposit exist, but few do, and usually only for some methods. One dollar buys 10 spins at C$0.10. Any fixed fee wrecks the math: a C$1.50 e-Transfer fee is 150% of the deposit, and a crypto network fee can be larger than the deposit itself. You won’t get a bonus on C$1, and if the casino’s minimum withdrawal is C$20, the chance of turning C$1 into C$20 is 5% at most, whatever you play. Casinos that took our C$1:.

One dollar is a sensible test amount. Don’t top it up “to get it back”: responsible gambling.

Which payment methods allow C$1

The casino sets a minimum for each method in its cashier, so C$1 may work with one method and not another at the same site. From what the payment providers publish:

  • Interac e-Transfer: Interac does not publish a minimum for consumers. The bank fee decides the cost: free on most chequing plans at RBC, TD, Tangerine and Simplii; C$1.50 per transfer at CIBC on accounts without a plan; C$1.00 from an RBC savings account.
  • MiFinity: loading the wallet by Interac is free, so a C$1 payment to a casino from an existing MiFinity balance costs nothing extra. Cashing out of MiFinity by Interac costs C$4.
  • MuchBetter: no MuchBetter fee on merchant payments, according to its fee page.
  • Crypto: every transfer pays a network fee that does not shrink with the amount. On a C$1 deposit that fee can be most of the deposit or more.

What a dollar does at the tables and slots

At C$0.10 per spin, C$1 is 10 spins; at C$0.20 it is 5. If you keep re-betting wins, the average total you can bet before C$1 runs out is C$1 ÷ 0.04 = C$25 on a 96% RTP slot. That is about 250 spins at C$0.10, on average. Most real sessions are shorter, because a run of losses at the start ends the session before any win arrives.

At European roulette, a C$1 bet on red wins with probability 18 ÷ 37 = 48.6%. A win doubles you to C$2; a loss ends the session. The house edge is the same 2.70% on every bet, so no sequence of bets improves the average. Table minimums are set by the casino:.

The withdrawal problem

A C$1 deposit is easy to make and hard to withdraw. Casinos set a minimum withdrawal, often well above the minimum deposit. If the minimum is C$20, your C$1 must grow twentyfold first.

There is a hard limit on how likely that is. In a game where the house has an edge, the chance of reaching a target before going broke is at most your starting balance divided by the target. From C$1 to C$20 the ceiling is 1 ÷ 20 = 5%, and on a real game with a house edge it is lower. No betting system changes this: doubling up, flat betting or one big bet all stay under the same ceiling. Bold play (fewer, bigger bets) gets closest to it, because the house edge has fewer bets to work on.

Withdrawal fees also matter. If you do reach C$20 and cash out through MiFinity to your bank by Interac, its C$4 fee leaves C$16.

Making a C$1 test useful

If you deposit one dollar to try a casino, write down what you learn. It is the same list we use:

  • the fee your bank or wallet charged, from your statement;
  • the time from payment to balance;
  • the payee name shown in your bank app;
  • the casino’s minimum withdrawal and any withdrawal fee for your method;
  • how support answers one question about the withdrawal rules.

That tells you more about the casino than the C$1 will buy in spins.

Is a C$1 deposit worth it?

As a test of how a cashier works, yes: you see the payment flow, any fee, and how fast the money is credited, for the price of a coffee. As a way to play, it is very short, and you will get no bonus. If you want enough play to judge the games, C$5 or C$10 gives you 5 to 10 times as many spins at the same stake.

Questions

Do C$1 deposit casinos really exist?

A few casinos accept C$1 with certain methods. Many more start at C$5, C$10 or higher. The cashier shows the minimum for each method before you pay.

Can I get free spins for a C$1 deposit?

Rarely. Most deposit bonuses need a higher minimum. A no deposit offer is the more likely route to free spins: see no deposit bonuses.

Can I withdraw winnings from a C$1 deposit?

Only once your balance reaches the casino’s minimum withdrawal and your account is verified. The chance of growing C$1 to C$20 is 5% at most.

Is crypto good for a C$1 deposit?

Usually not. The network fee is fixed per transfer, not a percentage, so on one dollar it can cost more than the deposit.
